Cultivating microalgae for biodiesel
We’re investigating how we can more efficiently cultivate algae to use as a feedstock for biodiesel.
We have a problem.
Climate change driven by human development causes major disruptions to the environment that impact almost every aspect of our lives: access to and availability of water, disruptions to agriculture for food supply, extreme weather events, interruptions to transportation and energy, and changes to ecosystems that support humans. Further, changes to our climate can also affect our health in many ways ranging from exposing humans to dangerous weather. Some examples include stronger hurricanes, increased numbers and more extensive wildfires, increased high temperature conditions, flooding and expanded ranges of animal and insect vectors of dangerous diseases, such as mosquitoes and ticks.
